The President’s message on Dec 10/2020
I immigrated to Canada in 1989 to start a new life, new family and a new business. With the help of some Canadian friends, and a little luck, I was able to complete a successful Canadian immigration story.
Canuckstuff Toronto was established in 1991, when we teamed up with the original Canuckstuff/Volleydome business in Calgary. Don Saxton, the Calgary owner, is a former Canadian National Team player, and has built a successful indoor facility business and a strong reputation in the volleyball community. I appreciate the friendship and assistance he gave me, when I came to Canada and reached out to him.
As a specialty volleyball store, we have been working almost 30 years at our Toronto location, focussing on the retail part of the business. With our two main rules of giving great customer service and great pricing, our business has flourished. Canuckstuff Toronto grew from a basement operation to today’s 20,000 square foot store, plus a 5,000 square foot store in Vancouver. We grew from one person, to employing over 20 employees. A true success story!
At this moment, I am also pleased to announce that I will play less of a day-to-day role with the business, and Mark Heese, our Canadian volleyball hero, and only Olympic volleyball medal holder, will step up as a major partner and General Manager, to carry Canuckstuff for the next 30 years and more…
Mark has been one of our leaders for many years already, bringing his expert knowledge of sports, his strong commitment, and great customer service. He has been leading our team during this time, to grow our business, and better service our loyal customers. As a result, Canuckstuff has become a winning team.
During the pandemic crisis, we have not been able to open the doors at our Toronto business since March 2020. We don’t know when the door can be safely re-opened to the public for our usual walk-in business. Right now, we have to clear out our inventory to save our business, and help pay the rent and the salaries of our employees. Without the normal operation of sports and events, we have experienced a major decrease in business. We are still working very hard to service the online orders that we do receive, and we are hoping for the best for the coming new year.
I want to thank all our customers; the coaches, the teachers, the players and their families who have supported our business for so many years. Without you, Canuckstuff would not be here. I especially appreciate our customers who are supporting our business right now during the pandemic. We even have customers who have donated to our business with the hope that we can last through the pandemic. Because of you, we have more confidence that we will get our business recovered when the nightmare is over.

Canuckstuff
is a specialty sports retail company with two retail outlet stores, a 12,000 square feet store in Toronto, and a 5,000 square foot store in Vancouver. We are experts in everything volleyball and badminton. We specialize in court shoes, uniforms, and all volleyball and badminton equipment. We also have our own print shop where we offer custom screen printing and clothing decoration. We work with many schools, clubs and organizations to provide custom teamwear and printed merchandise. We carry all the major brands; Mizuno, Asics, Mikasa, Wilson, Under Armour, Nike, Adidas. Canuckstuff also features their own brands such as lifestyle clothing brand Overkill, as well as Canuck Volleyball and Nothing But Volleyball. Canuck Badminton is also under the Canuckstuff Sports umbrella and has a strong presence in a section of our Toronto location, where we boast the biggest badminton showroom in the country. All the major badminton brands are well represented with Yonex, Victor, Apacs, Li Ning, Black Knight, etc.

Established in 1990.
Canuckstuff has been serving the volleyball community for over 25 years and the badminton community for over 5 years. The ownership and management staff are all former volleyball athletes (some National Team and Olympic level), so they know their stuff! The business has grown because of their commitment to customer service and great pricing, as well as key partnerships with major volleyball organizations such as Ontario Volleyball, Volleyball BC and for many years Volleyball Canada. Canuckstuff is so pleased to serve the Canadian sports community, and extremely proud to be one of the very few specialty sport shops left in the country.
